I just returned from the Briarwood Bridge meeting. A resident brought up the question whether the Briarwood plan was tied to the Meacham Road expansion plan. Further investigation is needed. The Meacham Rd. expansion plan calls for Meacham to be expanded to 6 lanes from Higgins to Algonquin and 5 lanes from Algonquin to Emerson in Palatine. It makes sense that these plans would call for overflow traffic to be diverted through Briarwood. This would increase traffic exponentially on Briarwood thus the need to now reconfigure and widen the road. This plan has been in the works for many years and we are just hearing about this in the final phase of the plan. If you are a resident of PGE and want to preserve our community please get involved.
