POSTED IN THE DAILY HERALD on 8/10/12:    Have the Palatine Township board save the expanded cost of the Briarwood Lane Bridge project by redesigning the replacement with no impact on the approaches and landscape. Save money, save trees and stop speeders.

Maggie O'Neill: "While save the bridge is a worthy cause, we should really be worried about saving our water supply. During this severe drought, the worst in 50 years, we have neighbors wasting our water to keep a green lawn. The fact that we are on "private wells" does not mean we have our own private water supply. We all draw from an ever dwindling water source. Wells can, and do, run dry. Home owners should turn off their auto-sprinklers. They are wasting everyone's water supply."
